You are God
You are God –
But don’t let that thought go to your head.
Instead, invite the sweet knowing into your heart
And allow it to take residence there.
Offer it some tea.
Bid it to rest now on the plush sofa
In front of the fire
That is your soul.
Sometimes, that fire seems
All smolder and ash.
Yet its radiant core is eternally present,
Merely hidden in the forgetting of
Who You Are.
You are here to use the breath of your life
To kindle the glow:
A brilliant blaze
Spreading beyond your doorway
Warming and illuminating
The entire world.
This is God as you
As she always has been
Knowing herself through your precious eyes.
Your work, simply to remember.
I have been studying in the tradition of Nondual Śaiva Tantra for the last year. This is the first poem I’ve written in that worldview - it mught even be the first poem that I’ve written since grade school.
